Important News regarding Tier 4 Student Visas
1. A judge in the High Court in London has ruled that the UKBA was wrong to introduce the rule that students require CEFR Level B1/B2 as a minimum level of English to apply for a General Student Visa (GSV). The judge said that this rule should have been passed by parliament before it was introduced. This was decided in a Judicial Review brought by English UK against the Home Secretary, which was heard on 29 and 30 June 2010.
2. This result means that the law will now revert to the situation that existed before 3 March 2010, so students with CEFR Level A1 (elementary level) can now once more apply for a GSV to enrol for an English language course at CEFR Level A2. Students wishing to study English language will no longer need to be at CEFR Level B1. |
